I am so glad they finally
rescued these poor kids. It has been a long time coming. I had to laugh to myself though when I saw who they "borrowed" buses from to transport them. Ever since my kids were baptized I have been beat down, argued with, and totally persecuted by several acquaintances who are Baptist. Apparently I am not saved and I am going to hell in a hand basket. Whatever am I to do? Task #1: I am having these acquaintances over in 2 weeks to have a discussion, along with the missionaries and my Bishop. Good times are a'coming.

That's a good idea to have them over with the missionaries, b/c it's totally not fair for them to bash you (and the rest of us) for things they do not understand and to not TRY to understand! It's ridiculous. If even 1/2 of them opened their hearts and minds (like they are supposedly doing) they would be converted, too!!
I always love (insert sarcasm here) when nonmembers like to tell us what we believe and then are not willing to listen to the truth. I am so proud of you for having a get together with your friends to let them know whats up, that is great that they are willing to come over and listen! Not many are.
They are only coming because they want to tell me and my Bishop how the cow ate the cabbage. They think I am not being "saved" and that by coming over and giving their opinion that it will prove that I am wrong and they are right. Religion is based on faith and they want concrete proof that my church is true. Since I can't tell them that they think I am all wrong.
SOunds like a party to me! I would love to be a fly on that wall! :) good luck! and don't back down!
You are more than welcome to come!
I so wish that these nay sayers could have heard Gladys Knight and her husband's sincere, endearing testimonies last weekend. I was very moved by them and I have heard a lot in my 41 years in the church, I could no more deny my religion or go back to a religion that doesn't have all the scriptures we have and the blessing of a living prophet to guide us in this terrible world where people smoke, drink a lot and think they are totally saved and can do what they wantand not be judged than pigs can fly.
I cannot wait to hear about that discussion. Hide a tape recorder, please. I would try to actually come over for it, but I don't think I act with proper decorum.
seriously! I'm glad they're outta there

;)
I finally posted, yay me! I am sorry it hurts your head Grace. Maybe I need a Springy header and background...
Okay – I guess I need to come clean. I “blog stalk” you too (via Sarah’s blog). I’m really interested here in what happened with the big dinner with your Baptists friends. (Background here – I was raised Southern Baptist and your friend’s comments seem way out of line to me – but, no matter. There are always a few crazies in every denomination.) Surely the meeting was blog worthy? I’m curious to know what all was said.
Your uncreepy (I hope) stalker,

So far it hasn't happened. It was cancelled for a number of reasons. We still want to do it, but now they are completely ignoring us. Very childish huh? They no longer return our phone calls, wave at us when we drive by them, etc. These people were our really good friends when I was inactive, and were constantly inviting me to church, etc. When I became active again they totally changed. What's weird is the wife's mom was LDS. My thing is: it shouldn't matter what anyone's religious preference is. I mean hello, look at the constitution. I also am a little confused in them, because they profess to be so uber religious and Christian and they guzzle beer like water and she smokes, alot! Just so foreign. As soon as it happens I will definitely post regardless of the outcome. And, I don't mind safe stalkers! If Sarah trusts you so do I!
That is very childish of them. It doesn’t seem like they’re stetting a very good example, especially if they are trying to “win you over”. I agree with you about the religious choosing. That’s no way to pick your friends (based on their religion). That’s just silly to me. I hope they grow up soon and reconcile with you and your family. You guys seem like a fun bunch. :-)
